Here are my discoveries:
1-Hockey players can be really short and really tall. But they have to be tough! The game isn't really that fun unless the players are picking fights with each other. Who cares about a puck flying a hundred miles an hour into a small net, give me the fights!
2-A hockey game is very similar to visiting a county fair. Same type of crazy people, same foods, same crazy people!
3-I don't like to think of myself as a violent person but man I loved it when they slammed each other into the wall. My wise hockey knowing friend informed this is called, "Checking" and if I yell, "Check him!" at the next game I attend some guy will be impressed and want to marry me. (Please see #2 to understand why that would worry me.)
4-The Zamboni is cool not because it is a big hug machine that smooths ice, but because it is simply fun to say, "Zamboni!"
5-Finally, I learned the Hockey has cheerleaders too! They just kind of dance off in a corner where no one can see them, but they are there.
One of the bigger fights that the whole teams got into. It looks like a big group hug, and they probably are sharing some loving words while they are all wrapped up together.
The referees have a very important job breaking up the fights. That's pretty much the only reason they are there.
Maybe if you find your true love by shouting "Check him!" during a hockey game you can name your first born Zamboni. I really think it works for either a boy or girl.
ReplyDeleteTwo other important things to know about Hockey:
ReplyDelete1. Hockey players don't have all their real teeth.
2. Hockey gear can't be washed and it REEKS!!!! I once sang the National Anthem at a WSU game and after the players walked by us as we were about to go out on the ice I didn't think I was going to be able to stand up, let alone sing.
But I LOVE hockey! Anytime you want to go I'm game. :)
I am married to a Hockey loving man...and he's not crazy weird. Glad you had fun! I agree with your friend Misty...Hockey gear does REEK!!!! Dave airs his out after every game and that keeps it under some control.
